Welcome to the home page of Cynthia Duck. My biggest surprise about having a web site has been the number of visitors who stop by. I want to offer my guests more, but I'm not sure what "more" means yet. Feel free to contact us to tell us what you'd like to see here. Besides the obvious information about me, my writing, and the products & services we sell, we'll be posting some of our favorite writing resources.
    Communication is one of the most important aspects of life. Most people will agree that living in the "information age" hasn't helped much with communication. Do you ever obtain so much information, that you feel confused? When I left the corporate world a few years ago, I started a business consulting enterprise. In addition to a number of business, training, and marketing services, we offer limited web, writing, and editing services. Clear communication depends as much on structure, organization, and style as it does grammar. We help clients transform their ideas into understandable and effective communication.
    Recently, we ventured into producing web sites. We offer basic, professional-looking websites, including other services, such as web marketing and "your domain name" email addresses for a fair price.     I also run a small, startup publishing house. We mostly publish original note cards, greeting cards and journals featuring Rocky Mountain nature photographs, but plan to add other products later. If you need original note cards or would like a journal published, please contact us. At the moment, most of our non custom products contain Cynthia's photographs. We have begun using the photographs of other photographers, buying nonexclusive rights. Our acquisitions process is a lot like a publishing house in the sense that we are looking for specific shots which fit into our product line.
    Currently, I am writing a contemporary novel set in the Colorado high-tech industry. I'm also planning a few articles for later in the year. When time permits, I write screenplays, which are clean but edgy comedies set in the computer and software industries (I spent ten years in that industry where I got a lot of comedic inspiration).
    I am also working on a couple of nonfiction books which could be revolutionary for some people, one in a practical sense and the other in a spiritual sense. The base of the "practical" nonfiction book teaches the reader how to simplify and organize using technology. I'm still outlining the "spiritual" nonfiction book and haven't boiled it down to a sentence yet. Basically, it is another way to look at walking with God. I will eventually be looking for an agent for the books and screenplays. While everything I write has a spiritual thread, most works are for a general audience. My living has been mostly in the world so I know a bit about walking with God without losing Him, while living in that world.
    Most of my published work has been in the business world, magazines and newspapers. I've also written greeting cards, audio and video scripts, as well as web content. I generally write on speculation, but do some work-for-hire through my consulting business. I've done a little ghost-writing, but prefer to write something I can talk about.
